I have been feeling an itch in recent weeks to do something different - I am contemplating Debbie Harry levels of blondeness or going back to my tried and true ombre look. It was Friday morning when I was scrolling through pictures of Taylor Swift in a recent issue of Vogue that I decided what my change would be: I would get good and proper fringe.
I went to the Rush Salon on Oxford Street after begging to come in for a lunchtime appointment. Upon arrival, I sat down in a comfy swivel chair while my stylist Georgia and I discussed what I wanted. I desired something thick but not heavy across my forehead - something that could be worn messy and wavy as well as stick straight. I told her about my Taylor Swift revelation and showed her pictures of Emma Stone, Kate Moss, Felicity Jones and Zooey Deschanel that I pulled up on my iPhone.
After twenty minutes and inches and inches of hair had fallen to the floor, I had myself a new pair of bangs. I had mixed feelings - on the one hand I loved them because they were fun and edgy, on the other hand I didn't know how to style them nor did I think I had the confidence to pull them off. I am still struggling with styling them - I am trying to do sideswept bangs, braids, and the full-on blunt fringe look, but I still get a little nervous going out into public with the full-on bang look. I'm sure it will come with time - everything takes some time to get used to, at least for me. But hey, I'm having fun taking modeling pics of myself on Photo Booth.

I am kind of obsessed with my fringe at the moment, especially when I am by myself in the bathroom primping, but I lack the confidence to really own them when I go out in public. Does anyone with fringe have any tips or suggestions for a newly banged person such as myself?

Fringes is hot! I've had fringe my entire life :) Here are a few tips of mine: After washing your hair comb your fringe over your forhead at once so it doesn't dry in a strange swirl or anything. Totally flat fringe doesn't look good on anyone, the key is to either blow your fringe round with a round brush or you can round it up with a hair straightener, fluff it up a bit with a brush and fix it a bit with some hair spray. Fringes gets oily more easily than the rest of the hair, so between washes I use dry shampoo on just my fringe. Hope this helps :) Rock your fringe girl!
You're so beautiful! Love this look on your hair :)
I`m a curly hair girl, buh!

It looks amazing!! It totally suits you.
I was having a bang dilemma recently as well. And took my roommates art scissors and went at it. MISTAKE. I'm taking vitamins and waiting for my hair to grow! Hah.
I wish I had waited and gone to a salon and gotten bangs like yours! I don't have any tips, just further reinforcement that they look awesome and there's no reason to be hesitant!!
PS thanks for the tag! It's nice to know I'm thought of even though I've neglected my blog lately
:)
Oh my goshhhh, you definitely suit having a fringe, no doubt about it was a good choice. You have a kind of Sienna Miller hair do going on here, I lovvvve! Fringes are really hard to manage, but I sometimes part mine in the middle in the growing out phase, then realise I miss it and get it cut again! The full on front fringe is my favourite, usually straightened but slightly curved underneath at the ends to make it look more volumized. It looks great the way you have done it here though, it really does. Good choice! xx
loving u is easy cuzz you're beautiful(in your bangs) x0x0
Suits you! I've had a fringe for almost 3 years now. Like Lucia said, I have a habit of 'growing it out' and then realizing how much I miss it and cutting it again.....which, in the past few days, I've been doing, twitching and fighting the cutting urge every day when i see my scissors (I have a feeling I'll have my fringe back in shape within the week!)
As far as suggestions, the first thing that came to my mind was the same thing that Elina said. It tends to get hella oily. I always tried to pin it away from my face while not out and about and while I sleep.
As for drying, I've always found that while blow drying it, if I brush it sort of up and toward the middle on both sides and then, when it's almost completely dry, I brush it down into place, it gets rid of my cow lick on the right side.
I had a really heavy, blunt fringe which made it difficult for make up. My tip for you is to wear a little bit of mascara and maybe a very faint eyeliner or eyeshadow and focus more on lips. This will balance out your face and it won't look like there's a big shadow. This depends on length though, so think about this when your hair starts to grow out.
I'm cutting myself fringe today! (In a salon-- no worries). I'm nervous, but hopefully they will look as good as yours. It suits you so well! x
I had the exact same problem with going out in public when I got a fringe cut in last year, and ended up growing it back out again. Now, after seeing yours and Raquel's I wish I had kept it. Looks great, I think a fringe always adds a sexy ooomph! xx
Just came across this and realized I haven't been to your blog for quite some time! I've had bangs/fringe my entire life... I can't be without them (so, in fact, I have the opposite problem..) Any fringe questions you have ask away, anytime! :)
