ABOUT

Hello there! My name is Alexis. I am a freelance writer, blogger and student living in New York. Growing up, I always had an intense nostalgia for the past. I felt more at home listening to Eartha Kitt records and reading books about the Beatles than I did going out with kids my own age and doing more "21st century" things. I adored women like Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly, Pattie Boyd and Marianne Faithfull. More than that, I wanted to be like them too.

Dolly Rocker Girl is my online escape into yesteryear, where I can talk about my love of all things retro. Fashions, films and music of decades past are constant inspirations for me, but never more so than the women of those eras. I call these women "dollies," a British slang term for fashionable, beautiful young girls that was used mostly during the Mod period. On Dolly Rocker Girl, my primary focus is the sixties, but I have a fondness for all decades and often talk about modern-day dollies like Zooey Deschanel and Michelle Williams in my posts as well.

With this blog, I am a part of the Lucky Style Collective, the Lucky Community, and a member of the Independent Fashion Bloggers network.

I hope you enjoy reading through my posts. Please feel free to contact me if you have any comments, questions, criticisms or random stories about your day. I'm quite a good pen pal!

Thank you so much for reading Dolly Rocker Girl!
Alexis
